AP State Wide Area Network

First statewide network in the country providing Voice, Video and Data services. Conceived and implemented by UTL in a record time. The Network connected the State Secretariat at Hyderabad with the Other Government offices across the state using leased lines.


The details are as follows:

  • Contract awarded to UTL in 1999, executed under BOO Model with the duration of 5+ years.
  • Extension of period of operation: 11 years 7 months.
  • 2 Mbps back bone connectivity to the AP Government catering the data, voice & video services simultaneously.
  • Connects all the District collectorates to the State Secretariat.
  • Value Of Contract: USD 10 Million.
  • OEM Partners: Tellabs, Cisco, Alcatel and Lucent.
  • Built in record time of 4 months

Connectivity established between:

  • District Head Quarters with State Head Quarter - 2Mbps.
  • Taluka/Major Towns Head Quarters with State Head Quarters - 2Mbps.



Connectivity facilitated to:

  • 360 offices / Locations (Wire Line) from their respective Head Quarters.
  • More than 5000 Nodes connected to the Network across the state.

  • Video Conferencing up to district level.
  • Teleconferencing - Districts to Mandals.
  • AP Secretariat Campus Area Network.
  • Help Desk for citizen complaint redressal.
