Government of Andhra Pradesh, as part of its vision to improve services to its citizens through efficient and transparent administration, has planned to create the backbone infrastructure for:

- Catalysing IT developme-nt in the state
- Supporting IT solutions for e-governance
As part of the building of IT infrastructure, a Wide Area Network (APSWAN) was created, linking State Secretariat and all District Collectorates with 2 Mbps fiber optic line.
UTL had been awarded the most prestigious contract for establish-ing Wide Area Network for Andhra Pradesh. APSWAN was commissioned on September 1, 1999. APSWAN is implemented on Build, Own & Operate basis by UTL.

UTL had chosen state-of-art technologies for implementing APSWAN. IT supports Voice, Data & Video traffic across the state. The Network established for Andhra Pradesh Government is an Integrated, fully manageable network. The network consist of Multi-Serviced Nodes & the best in the industry Network Management System (NMS). The nodes at the District Networking Centers (DNC) & State Networking Center (SNC) are modular in construction & have wide variety of technologies like, SDH, PDH, ISDN, ATM & Frame Relay. |
